In The Groove: From Martha Reeves to Olivia Dean, grooves that move the afternoon

This afternoon’s mix moves easily from the alt-pop edge of Beck and the steady flow of Blackalicious to the introspective soul of ANOHNI and the classic Detroit sound of Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. Along the way, we lean into groove-driven cuts from Little Dragon and Baby Rose with BADBADNOTGOOD.

We also mix in psychedelic touches from Black Sabbath and The Beatles, and spotlight Olivia Dean’s beautiful cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet.” The set closes with the smooth, steady feel of Dorothy Ashby, a mix that keeps the pace even while crossing styles and eras.
