Calling all local artists: NPR’s Tiny Desk contest is back for 2025

NPR Music officially launched its 11th annual Tiny Desk Contest this week β€” in search of the next great undiscovered artist to showcase in their very own Tiny Desk concert.

Since its debut in 2014, the contest has received more than 50,000 submissions from independent artists across the country, each hoping to earn the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in NPR’s signature music discovery series.

In addition to having the chance to perform their very own Tiny Desk concert, the 2025 winner will receive mentorship from a music industry expert, and get to perform as the headliner of a 10-city national tour.

More than 100 metro Detroit musicians entered the contest last year (check them out here!) β€” a handful of which were featured in WDET’s Sounds Like Detroit music showcase.

The submission window officially opened on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and will run through 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Feb. 10.
