A man is in custody and awaiting arraignment after authorities say he attempted to shoot and kill a well-known businessman in his own front yard.

Watch Brittany's report from this morning Macomb County businessman shares details about the shooting caught on home security cameras

Eddie Jawad was shot outside his home near 24 Mile and Springdale Drive in Macomb Township last Tuesday, with the suspect taken into custody on Sunday in Warren.

Macomb County SWAT, other local police, and the FBI's violent crime and gang task force executed a search warrant at a home on Rivard, taking the 32-year-old suspect into custody.

Jaward was driving a Black SUV when he was ambushed, with a gunman popping out from between parked vehicles. He began to shoot at Jawad as the businessman tried to drive away. The 61-year-old was shot in the leg and cut by glass.

Investigators used surveillance video to track the suspect's movements leading up to and right after the shooting. That video, coupled with witness statements, led investigators to the Warren home on Rivard Avenue Sunday, where police arrested the suspect for his alleged involvement in Jawad's attempted murder.

Jawad owns several metro Detroit gas stations. He is expected to be okay, and as of Monday morning, there's no date set for the suspect's arraignment.

Downriver bike shop closing after almost 80 Years

After operating for nearly eight decades, a Downriver Bike Shop announced it's closing it's doors for good later this year.

Petri Bikes announced on Facebook that it's last day of business will be Saturday, Nov. 29.

Below is the statement the owners posted to Facebook earlier this weekend:

After nearly 80 incredible years of serving the Downriver cycling community, our family has made the decision to close Petri Bikes (a.k.a. Al Petri & Sons Bicycles.) We plan on remaining open thru November 29th, 2025.Since 1946, when Al and Joyce Petri first opened our doors, Petri Bikes has been more than a store, its been a gathering place, a hub for riders, and a part of countless family stories. From first bikes and race tune-ups to charity rides and local events, weve shared the joy of cycling with generations of amazing people.Over the past several years, the face of retail has changed dramatically, and bicycle retail in particular has become an increasingly challenging space. With those shifts, and with retirement on the horizon for much of our family and team,we felt the time was right to close this chapter on our own terms. This isnt a story of loss, but one of gratitude. Were deeply thankful for every customer, friend, and supporter whos been a part of our journey. The relationships weve built and the community weve been proud to serve, mean more than words can express. While the bicycle store will no longer occupy its familiar home, the impact of Petri Bikes will live on in the rides, the friendships, and the spirit of cycling that continue to thrive here in Downriver. From our family to yours, thank you for nearly 80 years of loyalty, laughter, and shared miles. While being attacked, Hinton pulled out a knife and stabbed Vazquez twice, killing him. Authorities say Hinton remained at the scene.

During testimony this week, the juries heard from the widow of the jewelry store owner killed last year in his Rochester Hills home. She provided emotional testimony in Oakland County Circuit Court Wednesday about the home invasion that left her husband dead and herself injured.

Linda Murray testified about the events of Oct. 11, 2024, when her 73-year-old husband, Hussein "Sam" Murray, was killed inside their home.

"I was screaming and Hernandez hits me in the face to cover my mouth," Linda Murray testified when asked about her reaction to seeing blood at the scene.

Joshua Zuazo and Carlos Hernandez are accused of posing as DTE Energy workers who initially visited the Murray home on Oct. 10, 2024, claiming they needed to check for a gas leak. The family turned them away due to the late hour, but prosecutors say the men returned the following morning.

According to testimony, the suspects allegedly took Sam Murray to the basement, where they tied him up and killed him. Linda Murray was upstairs making breakfast when the men came upstairs demanding jewelry and cash.

Janssen said that they were first alerted to the shooting after a phone call from one of the hospital's residents, who was inside the church. That resident told Janssen there was an active shooter.

About 15-20 minutes after that, ambulances started to arrive.

"As I walked into the emergency room, all these patients started rolling through the door with wounds you never see," Ash said. "People bleeding, little kids, it was really all hands on deck."

Darren Cunningham reports more on the medical treatment below: 'Extraordinary team effort.' Doctors speak on treating victims of mass shooting & fire at church

Ash said that the teams did an amazing job helping prioritize the care and keep everyone alive.

"Emergency medicine is a team sport. You need the entire team to be engaged. Everyone has to be on the same page," Janssen added, saying everyone worked together perfectly that day.

Ross recalled that he was in the department with Janssen when the first patient came in the door, a 6-year-old with his mom. He was taken to a trauma bay, and once the doctor's assessed his injuries, they reassured him he would be OK. That boy went home later that night.

Two of the residents were injured, and one of the residents' children.

"What really turned us was not only the age and severity but also the connection. We were treating our own, which is always a little harder," Ross said.

Estranged husband charged in fatal stabbing at Meijer gas station in Shelby Township

A man is now facing charges in the fatal stabbing of a woman at a Meijer gas station on Hall Road on Sunday evening.

Watch Randy Wimbley's video report: Estranged husband charged in fatal stabbing at Meijer gas station in Shelby Twp.

Sidney Emmanuel Davis Jr., 25, was arraigned on first-degree premeditated murder on Wednesday afternoon at 41A District Court.

Video from the scene at the Meijer gas station: Woman fatally stabbed at Meijer gas station in Shelby Township

Police say officers responded to the gas station at 15301 Hall Road around 5 p.m. and found a woman suffering from stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, police say.

"There's citizens that were outside using the gas station that observed the start of the assault. It started outside and ended inside," said Assistant Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney Elizabeth Abbo in court. "There was a clerk that was working inside that was also involved in this assault and tried to stop the attack and help the deceased."

According to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, the victim was Fatme Davis, the suspect's 23-year-old estranged wife. At the time of the incident, officials say the child of the suspect and the victim was reportedly in Fatme's car at the gas station for a custody exchange.

Davis Jr. allegedly left the scene after the stabbing but was later taken into custody by Macomb County Sheriff's deputies.

Fatme Davis's family is speaking out about the young woman.

"She brought life into every room that she walked into, and with everything that she went through in life, all the tragedies before this, having to grow up in the foster care system, not having parents, not having anybody to lean on. I was her brother. I tried to be the brother and the father in the situation, and she was doing so good in life," says her brother Saif Mahmoud. "There was nothing off limits when it came to taking care of her son; it was everybody right behind her. He is such a beautiful little boy, and my nephew will grow up to remember how beautiful and how much his mother loved him."

The family has started a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral costs and establish a trust fund for her son.

A not guilty plea was entered on the suspect's behalf at the arraignment on Wednesday. The judge denied bond for Davis Jr.

The allegations in this case are both shocking and deeply disturbing. A young mother was allegedly killed at the hands of her estranged husband, while their child sat waiting in the car. Our office is committed to pursuing this case to the fullest extent of the law to ensure justice is served," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido in a statement.

The next court date for Davis Jr. is October 7 at 1 p.m.; his preliminary exam day is scheduled for October 14 at 1 p.m.
