A Detroit intersection is closed this morning after a crash where officials say around 100 gallons of fuel were leaked from a diesel truck.
Watch video of the aftermath from Chopper 7 VIDEO: Detroit intersection closed after 100+ gallons of fuel leaked in diesel truck crash
The crash involving an SUV and a gas tanker truck happened at the intersection of Conant and East Davison Street in Detroit on Wednesday morning. A spokesperson for the Detroit Fire Department said no one was injured in the crash.
DFD said that what was punctured in the crash was the diesel tank holding the truck's own fuel, not the fuel being hauled. Officials say that some fuel did leak into the sewer, but it's unclear how many.
We're told that water for residents in the area was not affected from the leak.
An elementary school in Dearborn Heights is closed today (Wednesday, Oct. 29) after at least 20 reported cases of Hand-Foot-and-Mouth Disease, according to a letter sent to parents.
Dearborn Heights School District #7 Mark R. Kleinhans said in the letter that Pardee Elementary School is closed "due to an abundance of caution"
All other schools in the district are open on Wednesday, with Kleinhans stating in the letter that the school plans to resume classes on Thursday, provided "no new developments arise."
The Superintendent told us the following via email:
"I am closing Pardee Elementary tomorrow due to the 20+ cases we have of Hand-Foot-and-Mouth disease. I have Enviroclean coming in to do a deep clean and disinfect (spray) all surfaces throughout the building. The Health Department does not give a recommendation on when to close school however they use 20% of the population of students as a threshold considering it an outbreak. We are under that percentage but believe we have more cases that are not reported and closing will allow for a thorough cleaning."

Gas prices in the state of Michigan are up 29 cents from a week ago, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).
Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.08/gallon, which is two cents more than this time last month and five cents less than this time last year.
For a full 15-gallon tank of gas, drivers are paying an average of $46 for a 15-gallon tank of gas, down $11 from last year's highest prices.
Experts say the unexpected rise is because of a fire and power outage at the BP Refinery in Whiting, Indiana, just over a week ago, leaving the Midwest's largest refinery partially idle for several days. BP said operations are back online.
In metro Detroit, the current average is $3.00/gallon, up 16 cents from last week but down 20 cents from this time last year.
Here's a look at the priciest and cheapest gas prices across the state:
Most expensive gas price averages: Lansing ($3.15), Ann Arbor ($3.13), Saginaw ($3.13) Least expensive gas price averages: Traverse City ($2.86), Marquette ($2.94), Metro Detroit ($3.00)

A man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly made a shooting threat toward an Eastpointe elementary school because his child was not given "snack time" during the school day.
According to Eastpointe police, officers responded to the threat at Pleasantview Elementary School at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Investigators say that the parent, 43-year-old David Scott Jr., was upset, approached a teacher and began questioning him during class dismissal.
There was an enraged parent who was upset about the fact that his first grader did not have sufficient time for snack time and this parent decided to make threats against the school," Eastpointe Police Lt. Alex Holish said.
Officials say the parent began "screaming, cursing and threatening the teacher, in front of staff, students and other parents."
According to police, the suspect threatened multiple times to come back the next day and "air the place out," which is slang for shooting up a location.
Im very sad to hear about what happened... its terrible that parents would go to that extreme," Pleasantview Elementary School grandparent Tracy Vinson said.
Scott shook his head at the allegations made against him in court Thursday for his virtual arraignment.
The man was reportedly arrested within two hours, with Eastpointe police, the School Resource Officer, the Detective Bureau and the Special Investigative Unit responding immediately. The man was arraigned and charged with:
Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (5 year felony or $5,000 fine) Intentional threat to commit an act of violence at a school (misdemeanor, $1,000 fine) Disorderly/Obscene conduct (90-day misdemeanor with a $500 fine Habitual offender, fourth offense (three previously committed crimes were drug and weapons related).
Scott pleaded not guilty, with other court appearances set for next month. Bond for the man was set at $150,000 cash/surety.
However, that childs mom says their son has been coming home from school hungry for weeks. Overwhelmed by loud noises, sometimes hell skip lunch, so snack time is a privilege.
His dad, of course, because its been ongoing got upset," the child's mother, Tykeissia Watkins said. I really think that it was blown completely out of proportion.
However, Eastpointe Community Schools said there is no official snack time. While Watkins wasn't there for pickup Wednesday, she does not believe the allegations made against Scott.
I mean yes, we get upset as parents and certain things couldve been said, but I do not believe that that came out of his mouth," Watkins added.
Eastpointe Community Schools Superintendent Christina Gibson sent 7 News Detroit a statement regarding the incident:
"During dismissal yesterday, a parent confronted a Pleasantview Elementary staff member, shouting and using inappropriate language while making threats in front of students, families, and staff. This individual also made a serious threat to return and harm the school community. As a precaution, Eastpointe Police officers have been present in the area around Pleasantview today to provide additional support and reassurance to our school community. Additional ECS staff were also present at Pleasantview this morning to ensure a safe and smooth arrival for all students. While this individual is in custody, students will have indoor recess today as an additional precaution and for additional peace of mind for our families and staff. Otherwise, the school day has continued as normal at Pleasantview. This type of threatening behavior is unacceptable. Eastpointe Community Schools takes all threats to our schools, our students, and our staff incredibly seriously, and we will not tolerate this kind of behavior at our schools. We are grateful for the quick response of the Eastpointe Police Department and for the calm and professionalism of our staff during the incident. "I don't want to leave anything unfinished," Patrick told us before today's race. "Today is not about me, today is about all those folks that were involved with me being here today."
Patrick's heart attack last year happened at Mile 24. He was rushed to DMC Heart Hospital in Detroit where a team of medical professionals immediately sprang into action working to save him.
"We're just really thankful with Patrick that we were able to get him in time," said Dr. Anthony Tam, the Henry Ford doctor who helped save Patrick's life last year.
"I was looking at my watch and just comforting myself saying Im right where I want to be, I have an easy two miles left, and in less than an hour Ill be celebrating my 60th birthday with the family,'" he said last year.
Dr. Tam didn't witness Patrick cross the finish line since he was working a booth, but it was an emotional day for the doctor.
"I wanted to cry initially," Dr. Tam said. "They gave him his medal and now he gets to finish with his family, all the way to the finish line."
Patrick wants to run all 26.2 miles of the marathon again soon, once he gets clearance from doctors.
"Either in the spring or next year, I'll be running the full marathon again," Patrick said. "First one in my second life."
