Following a rogue AI cyberattack in which OpenAI said experimental models left a test environment with no human direction and hacked onto a different companys systems, tech giants are working on new plan focused on AI security and safety.

The FAA is proposing inspections of passenger seats on hundreds of Boeing jets.

According to regulators, some seats on certain 737 Max models may have been installed incorrectly. They added that this issue could pose potential safety risks during an emergency landing or evacuation.

This would impact more than 450 registered jets, which represents more than half of the nation's 737 Max fleet.

Federal regulators had taken full control over 737 Max approvals in 2019, after two crashes. The second was later blamed on a new software system Boeing developed for the aircraft.

In mid-July, the FAA said Boeing would be allowed to take responsibility for certifying all of its 737 Max and 787 planes and that inspectors will continue to oversee Boeing's factories.

Boeing says they support the move by the FAA.

Many Americans are looking for ways to save money wherever they can.

In April, grocery prices rose 2.9%, driven by higher fuel costs tied to the Iran conflict, weather impacts, and trade policies.

The survey also found that nearly 35% of consumers bought groceries with a credit card in 2025 and paid the balance in full.

It also found that nearly 1 in 10 adults are using Buy Now, Pay Later options to pay for groceries. The short-term financing method allows shoppers to split purchases into smaller payments.

Nearly 20% of respondents said they are using savings that were not intended for daily expenses.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has been in the news recently after speaking out against transgender athletes.

Her comments came during a feature with ESPN, in which she was asked about her political views. Cunningham was asked about the MAGA Barbie nickname she has been given by some fans, which she called a projection.

"I'm very much in the middle," Cunningham said in the article. "I agree with things on both sides, disagree with things on both sides. And that's all I've ever said about my political beliefs. But people love to assume."

The guard also addressed her stance on transgender athletes because, as she noted in the piece, she is in that world and feels qualified to speak to that world.

"I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" Cunningham said. "I think that I am here to extend love. According to The Athletic, Cunningham was asked about her ESPN comments before Indianas game against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.

I said what I said. I think its kind of common sense, she told reporters.

The Indiana Fever released a statement to The Athletic, saying in part that its players are thoughtful adults with their own perspectives and voices, and those views are their own.

On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about Cunningham and her comments.

Leavitt said President Trump has not reached out to Cunningham, but that he has been following the story and that it is something the president feels strongly about.

The Trump administration has previously threatened to sue the state of Minnesota over policies allowing transgender athletes to participate in girls sports.

Last year, President Trump signed an executive order titled Keeping Men Out of Womens Sports. The order aimed to prohibit people assigned male at birth from participating in female sports categories.

More recently, the Supreme Court ruled that states can ban transgender athletes from participating in womens sports.

A recall has been issued for all Panasonic Electric Toaster Ovens, Model No. NB-G200.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the power cord insulation on these ovens can be insufficient and poses a risk of shock or fire hazard.

According to officials, the recalled sweaters violate the mandatory standard for clothing textiles.

The recall involves two styles of Madewell-branded Double V-Neck Pullover and V-Neck Cardigan womens sweaters.

The sweaters were sold with or without buttons in light blue and cream and in sizes XS through L. The sweaters have long sleeves and a V-neck.

The Great American State Fair is being evacuated once again due to severe weather.

The fair was disrupted last weekend on July 4 when severe storms gathered near Washington and forced event organizers to order an evacuation.

On Thursday, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia were under severe thunderstorm watches, forcing organizers to issue a similar announcement.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has upgraded its recall of hundreds of thousands of bags of "Zapps" and "Dirty" potato chips.

A voluntary recall was issued by Utz Quality Foods in May, after learning that a seasoning containing dry milk powder could have potentially contained salmonella.

The toys were sold at Target locations nationwide from August 2025 through January 2026.

If you purchased this toy, you are encouraged to stop using the toy immediately and return it to any Target store for a full refund. Consumers can also receive a prepaid return label by contacting Target's customer service if they need to return the toy by mail.

The recalled toys have the Gigglescape brand printed on the front of the package as well as the bottom of the base.

A Chicago man has been arrested in connection with a planned violent attack at the UFC event at the White House on June 14.

According to the Department of Justice, 20-year-old Alexander Iniguez Mercado was allegedly an administrator and member of Signal messaging groups, where he appeared to communicate with others about planning a violent attack at the event.

Seven others have been charged in connection with the attack. Two individuals from Missouri and Washington, along with five from Ohio, California, and Nebraska, were taken into custody.

Prosecutors allege the group, which communicated on encrypted apps, selected some targets based on a belief that certain lawmakers had accepted money from pro-Israel lobbying organizations.

According to Mercado's indictment, the day before the UFC event, a special agent from the FBI spoke with him regarding online threats to the event.

Charges have been dropped against Bailey Zimmerman after an alleged drunken rampage at a New Mexico casino resort.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit filed in Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court, the incident occurred on May 27, when Zimmerman arrived at Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque to perform at the venues amphitheater.

Surveillance video reportedly showed Zimmerman appearing intoxicated throughout the afternoon.

He then allegedly swung a guitar and struck the ground twice, threw and pushed over other musical equipment, and spat toward a security officer.

Zimmerman canceled his concert that night, citing illness as the reason for doing so.

According to the affidavit, Sandia Resort and Casino had determined he and his staff needed to leave the property. Initially, Zimmerman refused to board the arranged transportation. There was a response from Sandia Police and he eventually was escorted off the premises.

In January, Zimmerman issued an apology for a separate performance in which he said he was too drunk to play.

"I decided to drink that day, which was a mistake, and I got up onstage and I was too drunk to play, and I sang awful, I played awful, nobody got the show that they wanted or paid for, and I'm disappointed in myself," he stated in the video.
