Celebrini scores first career OT goal as Sharks top Red Wings 5-4

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini scored 46 seconds into overtime, and the San Jose Sharks beat the slumping Detroit Red Wings 5-4 on Monday night.

William Ecklund had two goals, and Luke Kunin and Tyler Toffoli also scored for San Jose. who have won two straight and are 3-1-2 in their last six games. Mackenzie Blackwood finished with 16 saves.

Dylan Larkin had a goal and had an assist, and Alex DeBrincat, Marco Kasper and Michael Rasmussen also scored for Detroit, which has lost five of six. Cam Talbot stopped 29 shots.

Detroit trailed 4-3 with 2:06 left in regulation when DeBrincat tied it on a power-lay goal.

Celebrini, the 2024 No. 1 overall draft pick, then won it in the extra period with his fourth goal of the season and first career overtime score.

Jeannot scores in return from suspension, Kings roll to 4-1 win over Red Wings

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Mikey Anderson and Tanner Jeannot scored 22 seconds apart in the first period, Adrian Kempe scored twice in the third, and the Los Angeles Kings beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Saturday night.

Anderson got his third goal of the season with 1:55 left in the first, and Jeannot followed it up by scoring in his return from a three-game suspension for an illegal check to Canucks forward Brock Boeser on Nov. 7.

Kempe had two goals for the second straight game, including an empty-netter, David Rittich made 17 saves, and the Kings avoided their first three-game regulation losing streak of the season.

Dylan Larkin broke up the shutout bid with 1:27 remaining, Cam Talbot made 37 saves, and the Red Wings lost for the fourth time in five games.

Red Wings: Detroit followed its highest-scoring loss of the season, a 6-4 defeat at Anaheim on Friday, by being held to one goal or less for the fifth time this season.

Cutter Gauthier puts Ducks ahead with his 1st NHL goal, and Anaheim rallies past the Red Wings 6-4

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Cutter Gauthier scored his first NHL goal to put the Ducks ahead with 8:51 to play, and Anaheim rallied from a two-goal deficit for a 6-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night.

Ross Johnston scored Anaheim’s fourth consecutive goal 38 seconds after Gauthier’s goal, and Ryan Strome added an empty-netter after Alex deBrincat scored for Detroit on a power play with 3:44 left.

Olen Zellweger had a goal and two assists, and Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry scored power-play goals for Anaheim.

John Gibson stopped 21 shots for Anaheim, which won twice on its six-game homestand.

Austrian rookie Marco Kasper scored his first career goal for Detroit, which has lost three of four. Jonatan Berggren scored on a two-man advantage for Detroit, and Lucas Raymond also scored.

Alex Lyon made 23 saves.

Ducks forward Robby Fabbri didn’t get to face Detroit, his team for the previous five seasons, after having knee surgery Friday. Fabbri will be out for six to eight weeks, while defenseman Cam Fowler will be out for two to four weeks with an upper-body injury.

Panarin has goal and assist, Quick gets 61st career shutout as Rangers beat Red Wings 4-0

DETROIT (AP) — Artemi Panarin had a goal and an assist, Jonathan Quick stopped 37 shots for his 61st career shutout, and the New York Rangers beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-0 on Saturday night to complete a sweep of the three-game season series.

Jimmy Vesey, Chris Kreider and Reilly Smith also scored for the Rangers, who have won three of four.

Panarin, who reached the 800-point mark in New York’s 6-1 loss to Buffalo on Thursday, has at least one point in 11 of his last 12 games against the Red Wings. Quick had eight saves in the first period, 19 in the second and 10 in the third for his first shutout in three starts this season.

Ville Husso had 20 saves for Detroit in his first appearance since opening night. The Red Wings have lost two straight and five of seven (2-4-1).

Takeaways

Rangers: Quick, 38, went 18-6-2 behind Igor Shesterkin last season and has won all three of his starts this season.

Red Wings: Husso was recalled from the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday with Alex Lyon sidelined by a lower-body injury.
